JUN 24/28

(Riva main square looking out onto the lake)
For non-sailing friends there’s lots to do including mountain biking, windsurfing hill climbing, canyoning, beach activities (pebbly), canoeing etc. The majority of these are available within a short walk of the town centre. So if you have friends or relatives interested in sharing your holiday – bring them along – the more the merrier!
The racing will run from Monday 24 to Friday 28 June, but you can arrive at the club from Saturday 23 June and stay until Sunday 30 June. Longer stays may be arranged with prior notification with the club. You can register at the club from Sunday 23 June. You must bring a copy of the boat insurance certificate.
The racing will consist of a series of windward/leeward races, 3/day, with a fun non-counting long-distance race on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The actual day will be decided when we are at the event and able to get a reliable weather forecast. We will not be sharing a course. There will be lots of time outside of racing to explore wonderful Riva ad its beautiful surroundings.
The club has been in existence for over 80 years, and has a deserved reputation for hosting events to World Championship level. You can be sure that the race management will be spot on and the support staff are used to dealing with foreign competitors.

Carnets & Tolls
Travelling through France and Italy you will have to pay road tolls on the Motorways, with barriers every now and again. In Switzerland / Austria its slightly different, as you stop at the border and buy a ‘carnet’ that covers you to drive on their motorways. Details of these tolls are available on the AA website – http://www.theaa.com’allaboutcars/overseas/european_tolls_select.jsp
Other Driving Tips
Launching/Boat mooring
You can launch off the main slipway, or be craned in. For the duration of the Championship, boats will be moored stern too around the lagoon, see photo below. The work around the club has now been completed, and we have a wonderful bar/restaurant next door, and mooring in the dredged lagoon. Please bring warps and fenders.

In terms of chandlery, Rondar will be there for spares and fittings. For more general stuff there’s a windsurfing shop in Torbole which has a range of ropes, blocks etc but no specialist parts.

Eurocup, Riva del Garda, Italy
Entry
Entry for this event is £305 per boat. Please click here to complete the entry form. Payment is due 10/05/2013Location
Fraglia vela Riva is situated in Riva Del Garda, located in Riva, which is in the North West corner of Lake Garda in Northern Italy. This was a fantastic fixture on the K6 calendar in 2009 and 2011, and we are keen to return due to the excellent conditions, sunshine and ‘holiday nature’ of the trip. The town of Riva is particularly attractive and has a wide range of shops, bars and interesting restaurants.

Wind/Racing
Garda is well known for being a sailing and windsurfing mecca, largely due to the thermally generated ‘Ora’ wind that kicks in from the south usually around 12-1pm, and builds regularly up to a F4 and occasionally up to a F6-F7.The racing will run from Monday 24 to Friday 28 June, but you can arrive at the club from Saturday 23 June and stay until Sunday 30 June. Longer stays may be arranged with prior notification with the club. You can register at the club from Sunday 23 June. You must bring a copy of the boat insurance certificate.

Social
The social side of Garda is part of the charm of the regatta. Evening entertainment usually consists of finding a lovely restaurant, then decamping to a bar to discuss the day’s racing. If you’re on holiday with your partner there are some lovely romantic venues. We have arranged a meal at the Yacht Club, and another at a local restaurant. The Championship Dinner at the Yacht Club is included in your entry fee, the other meal can be booked at registration at the event.

- I’m sure most of you have done loads of driving in Europe, but, just in case -
- Trailer Bearings – get them checked.
- Spare Trailer Wheel, and check you have a spanner that works on these wheel nuts
- European Driving Requirements
- Insurance & Recovery
- You cannot overtake during daylight hours on many of Germany’s roads – look out for the signs
On Arrival
On arrival in Riva the club (Fraglia vela Riva) is quite well signposted. If you would like a large scale map of the town, contact heather.chipperfield@googlemail.comLaunching/Boat mooring

Club Amenities
The club amenities are very good with a nice bar and lounge area. There’s an upper level sundeck and a smaller one for a post race beer in front of the club. Water, coffee, and rolls are all available from the bar in the morning, lunch is delicious, and after racing there’s free pasta for all competitors. They have new caterers and the food is excellent – bring loose clothes! In terms of chandlery, Rondar will be there for spares and fittings. For more general stuff there’s a windsurfing shop in Torbole which has a range of ropes, blocks etc but no specialist parts.
Accomodation
There is an accommodation list on the club website - www.fragliavelariva.com - which provides extensive details of the accommodation that’s available. It is also worth looking at www.rivadelgarda.com. I can personally recommend the Hotel Villa Miravalle - http://www.hotelvillamiravalle.com/it/benvenuto/ Several K6 sailors have stayed there in the past. I cannot arrange a discount with the hotel, as it is a busy time for them, but they confirm that, if you book direct through their website, you will get a better deal. If you are interested in camping, Monte Brione can be booked in advance and also has chalets for hire, but is a short walk from the lake and sailing club.If you need help with your travel options, do contact heather.chipperfield@googlemail.com
